Please take a look below at some of the prerequisites.

*  You must be at least 17 years of age when you register into the EMS class.
*  You must submit an application for the program to WITCC at http://www.witcc.edu.
* Have a high school diploma or its equivalent if enrolling in an AEMT or paramedic course.
* Be able to speak, write, and read English.
* Be currently certified, at a minimum, as an Iowa EMT if enrolling in an AEMT or paramedic course.

Clinical Requirements
1. BLS Provider Card (American Heart Association only)
2. Mandatory Reporter for Child and Dependent Adult
3. WITCC Health Evaluation Form (only accepted form)
* MMR
* Tdap
* Hepatitis B
* Chickenpox
* Tuberculosis
* Flu (September-April)

These documents will be uploaded to our electronic clearance system after the first day of class. You should have them completed prior to the start of the semester so you are prepared for clinical once we are ready to start. There are considerable clinical requirements and being able to start as early as possible is the key to successful completion.

Please also be aware that WITCC EMS and the State of Iowa require a criminal background check. These forms will be completed on the first night of class.

Successful completion of this course qualifies you to sit for the NREMT cognitive exam (additional fees apply).
Once those are successfully completed, you would be eligible to apply for an Iowa EMS License (additional fees apply).
