This Emergency Medical Technician course meets or exceeds all Colorado state and National Education Standards. The class is 160 hours of classroom instruction plus an additional 10-hour clinical shift in the hospital. Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be eligible to test for EMT certification through NREMT.

Additional documentation is required to be turned in with the application. This includes a shot record, current negative TB test, Flu vaccine, copy of driver’s license, and high school diploma/GED/college transcripts. A background check and drug screen are required and will be done through our office. Details upon class registration.

Class fee: $1,200.00. UCH employees, military, or members of EMS/Fire agencies that receive medical direction through UCH are eligible for a 25% discount.

Important information for submitting your application

Firstly, you may not register for this course online. You must complete the application packet and return it to our office. Please print the application or call our office at 719.365.2168 to obtain an application packet. Please do not complete your application electronically, as this changes the formatting. Email your completed application to janet.staatz@uchealth.org and include all required documentation. Additionally, you may bring your application and all required documentation to the office. Please call ahead to be sure someone will be in the office when you arrive. You may make payment by phone or in person. We accept cash, checks, or credit/debit payments.

You are required to have these books for class. You may also purchase them through our office or Amazon. The required textbook/workbook is Emergency Care 14th edition. If you prefer eText, you must still purchase the associated workbook.
