Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT) serve a vital link in the chain of a healthcare team. They conduct basic, noninvasive interventions to help save lives and reduce harm at emergency sites. They can do everything a responder does. Plus, they have the skills needed to transport patients safely.

Why Study at Southeast Tech?
At Southeast Technical College in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, our basic EMT course is designed to instruct students to a basic EMT level. It is recognized that a majority of pre-hospital emergency medical care will be provided by an EMT. You will learn the skills necessary to provide emergency medical care at a basic life-support level with an ambulance service or other specialized service.

Job Outlook
The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that job availability is growing faster than average for EMTs, with growth expected to be 6% from 2019 to 2029.

Licensure
Southeast Tech’s basic EMT course prepares students with the knowledge and skills necessary to pass the EMT exam. The exam is administered by the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians and is required to obtain a license and begin practice as an emergency medical technician. Students are responsible for their own board registry fees.
