Red River Technology Center

The EMS program prepares students to work in emergency medical health care services as an Emergency Medical Responder (EMR), or Emergency Medical Technician (EMT). Upon completion of training, students may be eligible to test for an EMR/EMT license after just one year. Students then have the opportunity to apply to continue the training necessary to become a Paramedic.

Applicant Requirements
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
Be a high school senior in good standing or an adult with a high school diploma or equivalent.
Present an ACT Reading Comprehension Score prior to the beginning of class, or take the TABE reading test. (This test may be available at RRTC.)
Be 18 years of age by March 1.
Sign an Affidavit of Lawful Presence verifying United States citizenship.
Provide proof of identification with some form of state/federal identification and a social security card.
Pass an OSBI background check and have no felony convictions.
Participate in orientation and complete all paperwork required.
Be able to lift, bend, climb, stoop, carry up to 125 pounds, and sign a release of liability.
Provide documentation of vaccinations including: MMR, Negative PPD, Tetanus, Varicella history, HEP B, and Influenza (or sign a waiver to omit).
Maintain 85 percent attendance in class and 100 percent attendance while completing EMS clinical field experience.
Pass all skills with 100 percent accuracy.
At the instructors discretion, students will be required to wear a RRTC embroidered polo shirt, and black duty shoes or boots (solid leather, no mesh).
State and National EMS licensure requires students to pass the written and skills exam.
