NCTI – Springfield EMT Program
The primary focus of the Emergency Medical Technician is to provide basic emergency medical care and transportation for critical and emergent patients who access the emergency medical system. This individual possesses the basic knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care and transportation. Emergency Medical Technicians function as part of a comprehensive EMS response, under medical oversight. Emergency Medical Technicians perform interventions with the basic equipment typically found on an ambulance. The Emergency Medical Technician is a link from the scene to the emergency health care system.
Program Goals
To prepare competent entry-level Emergency Medical Technicians in the cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills), and affective (behavior) learning domains.
Upon successful completion of this course, graduates are eligible to take the National Registry of EMT exam, the final step towards certification as an EMT.

The course is a total of 160 clock hours.
Didactic Phase: The scheduled course days and hours vary depending on the course format.
Clinical and field rotations may also be scheduled.
Additional fees and texts
Additional costs include: texts and equipment/diagnostic tools (I.E. stethoscope, penlight, eye protection, safety-shears). Students are also responsible for a background check, including drug screen, and health insurance. A list of textbooks is provided with the student Enrollment Agreement.
Technology requirements (potential additional student expense)
Courses include online assignments and students must possess, or have access to, an appropriate electronic device: a tablet or laptop is preferred. Computer availability on campus is limited, however wireless internet access is available.
Course Financing
The EMT program does not participate in Title IV Federal Financial Aid Programs. The tuition may be paid in full at the time of registration or students may opt to split the tuition into two payments. Tuition may be paid by check or money order, Visa, MasterCard, American Express or Discover.

First payment = $575
Second payment = $500
On-line pre-registration
Students may pre-register for this course online by paying a minimum of $575.00 (of which $100.00 is a non-refundable registration fee.) A second payment of $500 is due by the third week of class. Tuition must be paid in full to be eligible for the mid-term exam.
