Are you passionate about helping others in critical situations? The Emergency Medical Services (EMS) program at CNM is designed to equip you with the skills and knowledge necessary to thrive as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Paramedic, or First Responder. In accordance with accreditation standards, the ultimate goal of the CNM EMS program is to prepare Paramedics who are competent in the cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills), and affective (behavior) learning domains to enter the profession.

Our curriculum includes comprehensive classroom instruction, hands-on lab time, and clinical experience, ensuring you are well-prepared to handle emergencies. With flexible scheduling and a commitment to high-quality training, CNM is here to support you on your journey to becoming a skilled emergency medical professional.

Screening Process and Department Approval
The following EMS programs have limited seats and require department approval and a screening process before registering for classes.

Emergency Medical Services—Intermediate Concentration (AEMT)
One-term program available for Spring and Fall entry only
Two-term program available for Summer entry only
Emergency Medical Services—Paramedic Concentration
Cohorted program begins in Spring and Fall terms only.

If you are in progress with your EMT Basic classes, you can still apply and be conditionally approved. If you have applied to the paramedic program, you must obtain your New Mexico EMT Basic license prior to the first day of classes. If you have applied to the AEMT (EMT-Intermediate) program, you must obtain your New Mexico EMT-Basic license prior to the end of the second week of the term.

Required prerequisites must be successfully completed prior to proceed into the AEMT or Paramedic programs.
