Course Description
The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Training Program consists of 176 hours of classroom and hands-on training regarding all aspects of the job duties of an emergency medical technician, including bleeding control, airway control maneuvers, basic anatomy and physiology of the human body and medical emergency intervention. This course meets or exceeds the EMT National Standard and state of Ohio EMT curriculums. Upon completion of this class, individuals will be required to pass the National Registry written and practical examination prior to becoming state-certified.

Registration Information
All public safety courses are listed in our registration portal here. You will need to create an account and verify your email to register for a program. Instructions can be found on the Student Resources page. If you are a current student, you will use the same link to connect to your account. Please use the same email that you used to register for the class originally. Once your account is set up, you will be able to view your student file, attendance, grades, and financial information.

Admission Requirements
Pre-course requirements:

A. BCI & FBI Background check (at your own expense)

BCI/FBI background checks can be completed at DACC or at multiple locations in and around Delaware. Once you have registered, your welcome letter will include a detailed list of locations.

If you are having your background checks done at a location other than DACC, you will need to have the agency use ORC 109 578 and have a direct mail copy sent to:

B. Complete the ACT WorkKeys tests: Applied Math, Graphic Literacy, and Workplace Documents. A score of three (3) or higher is required on each test. (Please register for testing using the portal with the same login you used to register for the class: *Registration for WorkKeys testing secures your seat in the program.

C. Verification of High School Graduation: High school diploma, transcript or GED. College Transcripts or degree accepted

D. Driver’s License or Birth Certificate verifying that you are at least 18 years old.

E. To complete the EMT course, the state of Ohio Division of EMS requires students to complete online training courses titled National Incident Management System (NIMS) 100c & 700b. (There is no fee associated with these courses).

When you complete these courses you will receive an email with a link that opens the completion certificate.

If you have completed this for another courses such as fire, you will not have to retake the course. Bring copies of the certificates to Orientation for your file. If you don’t have copies you can request your transcripts here.

Textbook
Our custom textbook packages are only offered through the publisher. Students will have the choice to purchase the online access only (which includes access to a digital or e-textbook) or the online access and a printed copy of the textbook.

Textbook package information will be sent to registered students through the student portal.
