EMT PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
Prepares students to enter the field of Emergency
Medical Services and provide pre-hospital care
Students learn patient assessment, airway management & resuscitation, basic cardiac life support & AED, and pre-hospital procedures
Curriculum aligns with the National EMS Educational Standards, State of California, and the Emergency Medical Services Department of the Fresno County Human Health Services division
Prepares students to take the NREMT Cognitive and Psychomotor Exam for the National Registry.
COURSE DESCRIPTION
Fire Technology 131 Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) classes are offered throughout the year and include day and evening classes in Spring and Fall (18 weeks), and day only in the Summer (9 weeks).

PREQUALIFICATIONS
Must be at least 18 years of age
Have high school diploma or GED
Have a valid CA Drivers License or CA ID Card
Have valid CPR card equal to current AHA standard of BLS Health Care Provider” according to 2020 guidelines.
TRAINING INCLUDES
216 didactic hours, including 162 lecture hours and 54 lab hours
Minimum of 24 hours of an arranged field internship to include the minimum required patient contacts
