Course Description
Students who successfully complete the course will be qualified to take the state or national certification test for Emergency Medical Technician Basic. Instructional time includes: ride-along hours, online lectures, class work, and hands-on lab skills necessary to provide emergency services agency or other specialized ambulance services. Successful students who pass the state or national certification test are prepared for immediate employment (if 18 or older) in emergency services and may choose to go on to complete the Advanced EMT or EMT Paramedic certification.
EMS Entry Requirements
There are different entry requirements and applications steps for EMS4200A / EMS110. The minimum entry requirements are listed here. Each class’s additional requirements are listed their designated tab listed below. The classes are co-seated and there is no instructional difference in the classes. (CCP classes are not co-seated)
Watch the Mandatory EMT Information Session and complete the Follow-up questionnaire (available in the tab below).
Submit an application to the Emergency Medical Services Program.
Possession of a valid driver’s license or permit. It must prove that you are 17 years of age on or before the official end date of the course.
High School Diploma/GED Certificate or completion of CASAS evaluation showing a basic reading level score of 249 or higher.
All Public Safety Programs have selective admission requirements. You will be required to fill out an application for the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) program, successfully complete the Mandatory Information Session, and submit all the required documents to receive a registration form.
