Become an EMT
Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) care for the sick or injured in emergency seƫngs, perform emergent medical
services and transport paƟents to medical faciliƟes. Making a career in EMT can be rewarding and provides many
opportuniƟes for advancement and growth.
In order to receive an EMT license, you must successfully complete a formal EMT course and pass a naƟonal cerƟficaƟon pracƟcal & wriƩen exam provided by the NaƟonal Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT). The Emergency Services NaƟonal Academy is offering a course that will provide the training necessary to become cerƟfied.
This class will cover how to assess paƟents, administer medicaƟons, and teach skills such as managing respiratory, medical, trauma and cardiac emergencies. You’ll receive instrucƟon and pracƟce in how to deal with bleeding, fractures, airway obstrucƟon, emergency childbirth, cardiac arrest, and
other common emergencies. In addiƟon, students will learn how to use/maintain common emergency equipment such as AEDs, backboards, sucƟon
devices, splints, oxygen delivery systems, and stretchers. Lastly, this course will allow you to spend Ɵme on an ambulance and experience how these
skills are applied.
REQUIREMENTS:
*Be at least 16 years old when course is completed *Must have access to computer/tablet and the internet
*Willing to get/show proof of current flu shot & TB test *Fully COVID-19 vaccinated for hospital clinicals (If not, extra ambulance ride-alongs
*No felonies on record will be provided for clinical experience)
CLASSES/REGISTRATION
This is a hybrid cerƟficaƟon course, meaning assignments are expected to be done in class &
on your own. It is equivalent to a one-semester, 6-credit college course. Class meets weekly for 4 hours to learn pracƟcal skills.
