Emergency Medical Technician At Trinity EMS Academy
Formerly known as Basic Emergency Medical Technician (EMT-B), the Trinity EMS Academy Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) course, lasting approximately 6 months, is designed to teach individuals who respond to emergency situations basic lifesaving treatment, procedures, and diagnostic tests, such as vital signs, until advanced help arrives.
EMT training involves the primary skills needed for emergency treatment, from making patient assessments to delivering respiratory care and anatomy and emergency cardiac services. Students will receive instruction in emergency childbirth, controlling bleeding, and stabilization of fractures.
Other areas of training include Preparatory, Airway, Patient Assessment, Circulatory Management, etc. Additionally, upon completion of the course, the students will understand how to use and properly maintain equipment routinely found in an ambulance, such as splints, stretchers, and backboards.
The information covered in this course is increasingly more intense and technical than the Emergency Medical Responder (EMR).
