About This Program
This 7 credit hour, semester long program provides lecture, skills and clinical training adhering to the EMT-Basic National Standard Curriculum. The course focus is on pre-hospital emergency care knowledge, critical thinking, and the technical skills necessary to function as a team member and provide emergency medical and trauma care to the ill and injured. Eligibility to apply for the state practical exams and the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technician (NREMT) written test is based on program completion. Successful students will become certified NREMT EMT-B and licensed in the state of Arkansas. This program leads to a Certificate of Proficiency and is a pre-requisite for the Paramedic Technology program.
The program of study can be a stand-alone program or part of a technical certificate or associate degree curriculum and is designed
to enhance a person’s skill set to make him/her more productive and marketable.
Student Learning Outcomes for CP Emergency Medical Technician Program
1. Demonstrate integrated pathophysiological principles and assessment findings to formulate a field impression and implement the
treatment plan for the trauma, medical, neonatal, pediatric, geriatric, diverse, and chronically ill patients and patients with common
complaints.
2. Demonstrate personal behaviors consistent with the professionalism and moral standards associated with a pre-hospital provider.
